    Keynote Speaker Announced!

    Eddy Zheng understands firsthand the difficulties, barriers and frustrations that immigrant youth are going through, having immigrated to America from China with his family when he was 12 years old. Eddy’s mission is to use his experiences to inspire and motivate young people to invest in their education, raise awareness about the detrimental impact that the Prison Industrial Complex has on the Asian and Pacific Islander population, and promote racial harmony among people of color. As a tireless advocate-educator, and through extensive public service and community involvement in the San Francisco Bay Area, Eddy raises awareness about the impact of criminalization and deportation on the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community and ensures that the API voice and experience is included in the larger movement to end mass incarceration in the United States.

    Zahra Billoo, Director of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), works to uphold civil rights of American Muslims, foster a better understanding of the Islamic faith and its followers, and help find avenues for Muslims to integrate more fully into the broader society. Known for her powerful DC Women’s March address, and for suing our current president, we are proud to welcome Zahra Billoo as the keynote speaker for the 15th Annual Practical Activism Conference!

    Bay Area artist-to-watch Porsche Kelly will be performing spoken word and other poetry at this year’s Practical Activism Conference. Her poetry ranges from topics on racism, blackness, sexism, and human trafficking with emphasis on themes of love, freedom, hope and justice.
